The Belgian photographer Philip Van Avermaet made waves in the capital this past summer with his exhibition Crossroads #19 – Smoke Art, which appeared at the Light Box Gallery at Yas Viceroy as part of a series organised by the Swiss Art Gate UAE. Now Van Avermaet returns to the UAE, this time in Dubai, with Imagination, in which he photographs incense smoke and colours it according to his current inspiration. He says he uses software to colour the smoke but does not change the unique and elegant shape of the smoke.

Van Avermaet, who runs a fine-art photography studio in Switzerland, says: “In my photo exhibition Imagination, you will find no title on the works. The forms and colors inspire people and let them imagine so much – personal things, feelings and emotions.”
