Giggling zebras to sparring cubs: The funniest moments captured in the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards

The competition is still open for entries, too

When it comes to the animal kingdom, these guys might be the court jesters.

A number of animals great and small have been captured in hilarious positions as part of this year's Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.

The annual competition, which is now in its sixth year, has revealed some of the best entries received so far for the 2020 prize.

Among the contenders are a pair of giggling zebras, an owl that looks like it had a rather rough night, and a pair of lovebirds cuddled up on a branch.

The closing date for this year's awards is Tuesday, June 30, with photographers both budding and professional encouraged to submit their work at www.comedywildlifephoto.com.

Entry is free and open to participants all over the world, with prizes up for grabs including a Kenyan safari trip and a Z 6 Nikon camera.

The competition, co-founded by photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam to focus on the lighter side of wildlife as well as promote conservation, will be judged by a star jury.

TV presenter Kate Humble, actor Hugh Dennis and wildlife photographer Will Burrard-Lucas are on the judging panel this year.
