Tashkeel will host two back to back exhibitions celebrating art from international collaborations this month.
The gallery space will first host Found, an outcome of a three-day sculptural and collaborative workshop by Palestinian artist Hazem Harb, from October 6 to 20. Five participants where also taken through a process of understanding materials and constructing and deconstructing objects. The exhibition will include the final pieces and preparatory work by Mays Albeik, Hadeyah Badri, Ammar Al Attar, Seema Rao, and Hazem Harb.
Works from Soundweaving will be presented at the gallery from October 27 to November 4, during Dubai Design Week. The exhibition is part of Tashkeel’s collaboration with Hybridart in Budapest. This work, produced at Moholy Nagy Art University (MOME) in Hungary, brings together the collective work of textile designer Zsanett Szirmay and composer Bálint Tárkány-Kovács, first showcased at Vienna Design Week in 2014.
The exhibition revolves around rugs created by Afghan women artisans under the Fatima Bint Mohammed Initiative (FBMI), and are set to music and mixed-media to map visual and aural cultures.
