Superstar DJ Afrojack will make a return to the UAE to perform at this year’s Sensation festival.
Ummet Ozcan and Aly & Fila have also been confirmed as headliners at the huge EDM spectacle, which takes place on November 11.
Shifted to a exotic new desert location for 2016, the nine-hour party will also host sets from hit duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Belgium’s Sem Thomasson, Dutch DJ YAX, plus the brand’s evergreen touring party starter Mr White.
Dutch DJ Afrojack was last year scored eighth on DJ Mag’s top 100 popularity poll, and is currently ranked as the ninth richest DJ in the world, with an estimated fortune of $90 million.
He is no stranger to big UAE gigs, having previously headlined Creamfieilds Abu Dhabi in 2014 and the short-lived dxb Music Festival in 2012, as well as stopping by at O1ne Yas Island in the year between.
Regional balance comes from Ozcan, Turkey’s international flag-bearer of the EDM movement, and popular Egyptian trance duo Aly & Fila.
The 30,000-capacity event will be hosted at a purpose built Desert Dome stationed the new Bab Al Shams Event Arena.
Nicolas Vandenabeele, director of promoters Envie Events, promises to host “the biggest music event” in Dubai’s history.
“Each of the artists have been carefully selected based on the likes of the region”, added Vandenabeele.
Since founding in Amsterdam in 2000, Sensation has hosted events in more than 35 countries. Now established as one of the biggest global brands in dance music, the brand is renowned internationally for high-tech spectacles and all-white dress code. Two previous annual editions were hosted at Dubai’s Meydan, with a sold-out capacity of 14,000 people.
