Danish dance DJ Morten - real name Morten Breum - recently played to a packed Cavalli Club in Dubai, after which he spoke to The National about the crowd energy drives his music.

My first musical memory was when I was a kid, maybe five years old, and my mom and dad listened to Simon And Garfunkle's Sound of Silence. Still to this day I feel it is such and amazing song.

The first two albums I bought were Tupac's All Eyez On Me and Public Enemy's Yo! bum rush the show. I grew up listening to hip-hop.

My my first ever live set was years back when I played this youth club in the Danish neighborhood where I grew up, i think there was 30-40 people at the most, but I remember loved it so much, even back then.

My live shows in Europe over the summer now are massive, with tens of thousands of  people. There is lots high energy and it's one huge party. That's the best feeling and the best thing i know how to do. I love it.
