The Golden Globe dresses- the good the bad and the ugly!

Who gets our vote for the best and worst dressed at this year's Golden Globe Awards?

Does Helen Mirren ever get it wrong? The artful drapery of this Jenny Packham dress is exactly what a woman of her age should be wearing.

Masters of Sex star Caitlin Fitzgerald wore a beautiful step hem, powder blue Emilia Wickstead dress that certainly made a high- fashion statement. She completed her look with our favourite shoes of the night from the same line. We only wish she had tidied up her shaggy bob and gone for a neat bun instead.

The newly svelte Anna Gunn was right to call on Donna Karen for her red carpet moment. Pink champagne silk with a huge deconstructed bow and asymmetrical neckline - this is exactly how it should be done.

Michelle Dockery looks quite the lady in this elegant strapless Oscar de la Renta dress with gold embroidery and step hem, although the outfit was let down by the lack of accessories.

The pairing of Cate Blanchett and Armani Prive worried us a little, as we expect rather a lot from our favourite leading lady. Of course, there was nothing to worry about - the regal lace dress may well be the best of the night.

Lupita Nyong’o interestingly opted for a rather simple Ralph Lauren creation, instead of Miu Miu whose SS14 campaign she currently stars in. Obvious comparisons are being drawn to the white Tom Ford dress and cape Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the 2012 Oscars.

Zooey’s ivory Oscar De La Renta dress with a full skirt and cropped top were both fresh, cutesy and modern, but we can’t help but feel we have seen it all before.The flower in the hair dresses things down in the wrong way.

We are not so sure if this a negligee or a dress? Whatever it is, Prabal Gurung doesn’t agree with Zoe Saldana.

Oh how we wanted to love the nation's favourite actress in Dior but something just wasn't quite working. All the elements were there - the chic hair, the drama, the glittery smile... Perhaps it was that second trim (or strange belt if you must), that ruined the overall shape.

What was she thinking? Dolce & Gabbana catapulted Julia Roberts right back to the 1995 Golden Globes with this odd creation. Part Amish, part Spice Girl in business class - what it was, was a fail.

As much as we love a risk taker, this is another odd one from Prabal Gurung. The pastel-meets-black creation looked a little too ‘modern dance’ for the red carpet. What is  more remarkable, however, is that Sandra Bullock is a year off 50! Does she sleep in the deep freeze?

Again, Reese Witherspoon looks a little dated  in this Calvin Klein Collection dress.

We commend her bravery - canary yellow isn’t the easiest of colours to pull off. The Zac Posen dress certainly packed a punch; the problem was that Lena looked distinctly uncomfortable in it.

As lovely as it was to see her back on the red carpet, the custom-designed Atelier Versace gown Uma Therman wore just didn’t work. The pairing of a shiny halterneck top with black lace overlay and a fish tail skirt embroidered with Swarovski crystals is somewhat of a cliche.

Emma Thompson, you should know better. That American soccer mom blowout paired with a liquid gold bodice and the worst length of skirt possibly known to woman is not the best of combinations for the red carpet.
