If you follow major fashion publications and personalities on social media, you will have already heard the big news: Natalie Massenet has joined luxury e-commerce website, Farfetch.
Massenet was the founder of the Net-a-Porter group and chairman of the British Fashion Council, and has been deemed one of the most 100 influential people by Time magazine. She began her career in fashion with a host of different roles: as a model and stylist in Tokyo, a saleswoman at a Los Angeles menswear shop and a writer at Womens Wear Daily. She became a freelance writer in 1998, and started Net-a-Porter in London two years later.
It was announced yesterday, February 28, that Massenet is partnering with José Neves, CEO, founder and executive co-chairman of Farfetch, as non-executive co-chairman of the company. According to Farfetch, Massenet will focus on the global growth of the brand, along with its partnerships within the industry.
“I am honoured and excited to support José and the Farfetch team as they continue to build a unique vision of what the future of fashion and technology looks like,” said Massenet. “What Farfetch has done to rewrite the rule book on how technology can work alongside bricks and mortar to elevate the customer experience stands out in the industry — when José asked me to come on board it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. José is a true innovator, and I am thrilled to join him as he grows Farfetch into the online platform of choice for luxury fashion.”
