It’s been a stellar start to the year for Dubai-based couturier Furne One. Celebrities have clamoured to wear creations by the Filipino designer’s ethereal label Amato, most recently Beyonce at the 2015 Grammy Awards this weekend.
The 33-year-old singer donned an intricately sequined floor-sweeping gown by Cavalli, enshrouded in a white cape by Amato. The ensemble fit the mood of Beyonce's Gospel performance of Take my Hand – Precious Lord in which she was flanked by twelve singers in white suits. Mrs Jay-Z accessorised her outfit with Tom Ford shoes and necklaces by Monique Pean & Messika.
“The stylist approached me about two weeks ago” says One “She wanted something very simple in the form of a cape. So I designed a cape with a kaftan-like cut and the fabric was soft tulle. I can tell you that a lot, a lot, of tulle was used.”
When it comes to future celebrity collaborations, One remains tight lipped but teases that another A-lister could be revealed in the coming weeks.
“The problem is that we have a lot of collaborations going on right now, but we don’t know until the last minute whether they’ll wear our pieces or not.” he says “And of course we’ve signed agreements so we can’t say anything, but yes, watch for something very soon.”
