Miu Miu has released a new series of images, showcasing its new Winter 2016 collection ahead of the festive season.
True to the Miu Miu aesthetic of off-kilter decadence, the inspiration this year is the still life paintings of the Dutch Masters. Bags, shoes and jewellery are heaped on tables, in artful arrangements, sporting colours of periwinkle blue, salmon pink and chartreuse, with richly embellished buckles and hardware. The tabletop colours of mustard, teal and burnt orange add to the richness, while scattered fruit ties the images together in homage to the original paintings.
While most would recoil from placing blue on orange, the colour combinations are nothing short of sublime, as expected from this avant-garde label.
