US strike on Qassem Suleimani killed a total of 10 people

Raid at Baghdad airport left five IRGC members and five Iraqi militiamen dead

A second Iranian general died in the US raid that killed General Qassem Suleimani and his Iraqi right-hand militiaman in Baghdad on Friday, according to Iranian media.

The Fars news agency identified the general as Hussein Jaafari Naya, an officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Suleimani was head of the IRGC's overseas operation arm, the Quds Force.

The agency said in addition to Naya, Suleimani and Abu Mahdi Al Muhandis, head of the Iraqi Kataib Hezbollah militia, the dead comprised three more junior officers in the IRGC and four Iraqi militiamen.

Iraqi media said Mohammad Rida Al Jabiri, who was in charge of protocol at the Popular Mobilisation Forces, was among those militia members killed in the raid. He was a relative of Al Muhandis.

The PMF, also known as the Hashed Al Shaabi, is a loose constellation of Iraqi militias supported by Iran to which Kataib Hezbollah belongs.
