Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with the president of Afghanistan and a number of foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Sheikh Abdullah held discussions with Ashraf Ghani, the Afghan president, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Chadian minister of foreign affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, Rwanda's minister of foreign affairs, cooperation and East African community, Simon Coveney, the Irish minister of foreign affairs and yrade, Khairat Abdul Rahmanov, the Kazakh foreign minister, Louis Straker, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines minister of foreign affairs, commerce and trade, and Taro Kono, Japan's foreign minister.
During the meetings, Sheikh Abdullah discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing and developing them in various diplomatic, political, economic, trade, cultural, tourism, renewable energy and other fields.
He also reviewed and exchanged views and political positions on the latest regional and international issues, especially the situations in Libya, Syria, among others on the UN agenda.
The meetings were also attended by Lana Nusseibeh, UAE's permanent representative to the UN, and Khaled Omran Al Amiri, the UAE ambassador to Japan.
UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash met with Alan Cayetano, the foreign minister of the Philippines.
