The 50-day war between Israel and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in 2014 resulted in the deaths of over 2,200 Palestinians and 73 Israelis. After a ceasefire was declared, American photojournalist Heidi Levine returned to document the loss of lives, limbs and livelihoods, and how the people of Gaza continue to endure and persist despite all that has happened. Heidi speaks to The National’s photo editor, Brian Kerrigan about the case studies that highlight her photo project on the survivors of the war.
