SANAA // Fahd Al Quso, a senior Al Qaeda leader in Yemen, was killed this evening by an air strike in the south-eastern province of Shabwa, security and local officials said.

The officials said Al Quso was killed along with another comrade in a strike by a suspected US drone near his house in the mountainous region called Rafadh.

Al Quso, 37, was one of the most wanted terrorists by the United States.

He stood trial on charges of being involved in the suicide attack on the USS Cole destroyer in Aden port in 2000 in which 17 sailors were killed.
