England’s outdoor leisure facilities were being used for the first time in more than three months after lockdown restrictions were eased.

On Monday, people were allowed to attend outdoor venues such as pools, tennis courts and golf courses, depicted in these aerial photos.

Groups of six, or two households of any size, were allowed to meet up outdoors.

The lifting of restrictions, an early step in the UK government’s path out of lockdown, came as warmer weather hit the country this week.

The next stage is scheduled for April 12 when retail shops and outdoor hospitality venues will be allowed to reopen.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged people to remain cautious because new variants of the Covid-19 coronavirus still posed a threat.

“As the vaccines are rolled out it is vital that we don’t overdo it and risk all the progress we’ve made,” he said.
