HELSINKI // A small airplane taking a group of parachuters for an Easter Day skydive crashed Sunday in Finland, killing at least eight people, police and media said.
The Comp Air 8 plane went down in the town of Jamijarvi in western Finland, the national police said in a statement, without saying how many had died.
The newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reported a death toll of eight, saying the plane had run into engine trouble.
There were 11 people on board, three of whom parachuted to safety before the plane crashed, said the daily. The Jamijarvi airport is a popular spot with amateur parachuters.
