ABU DHABI // Zayed Day for Humanitarian Work celebrates what Sheikh Zayed enjoyed most, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed said the former president was a “humanitarian leader, humble and a philanthropist”.
“I have dealt with world leaders for decades but have not met one like the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
Sheikh Mohammed launched the initiative to coincide with the anniversary of Sheikh Zayed’s passing, the 19th day of Ramadan.
This Ramadan, Sheikh Mohammed started a campaign to clothe one million needy children by that date. His goal was achieved in just 10 days, well before the deadline. The campaign will have clothed thousands more children than expected by the time it finishes.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing has also collected charity donations from staff and hosted philanthropic activities with Beit Al Khair Society.
All the UAE's leaders "follow Sheikh Zayed's footsteps to further develop our country and achieve prosperity for our people", Sheikh Mohammed said.
