SHARJAH // A half-dozen people were being held by police yesterday after a construction worker was found dead in his bunk with severe burns. Tests were being carried out on the body of Mohammed Hassan, 30, the results of which are expected today. The body was discovered at 7.30am on Monday at accommodation owned by Al Hajri Contracting Company.

Police suspect Mr Hassan, from Bangladesh, was murdered. Although large parts of his body were covered in burns, the fire alarm had not sounded and none of the six workers sharing his room was hurt. A spokesman for Sharjah Police said arrests had been made. Salim al Hajri, the owner of the contracting company, said about six people were in custody. They were mostly Mr Hassan's friends and roommates, he added.
