DUBAI // A woman has been arrested at Dubai International Airport with more than seven kilograms of cocaine and heroin.
TN, from an unnamed African country, planned to smuggle the drugs from Sao Paulo to Addis Ababa via Dubai, police say.
She was stopped in Dubai on April 12 after the Anti-Narcotic Department received information that she had drugs in her possession. Police say they found drugs in four of the six bags she was travelling with.
The woman was carrying more than 2kg of heroin and more than 2kg of cocaine, hidden in tubes and disguised as silicon in white and blue packaging.
In another suitcase, police found more than 1kg of cocaine wrapped in brown packing tape.
Just over 1kg of cocaine was found in her handbag and about 500 grams were found in a fourth bag.
"The arrest of this woman and the seizing of the drugs shows once again the vigilance and readiness of the Anti-Narcotic Department in combating those who try to mess around with the security of this country," police said yesterday.
The case has been referred to public prosecutors.
