DUBAI // A woman has filed a case against her husband stating that she wants him to be intimate with her, and that he pays for her and their children’s expenses.

The Emirati couple have been married and have lived in a house in Oud Al Mutainah since 2011.

The wife, A A, said in court records that her husband’s adult brother lives in the same house as them but that her husband, J A, rarely visits the home.

Since their marriage, the wife said her husband, an employee at a government entity, does not pay her costs and, for the decade that they’ve been together, she has been paying all expenses, in addition to the maid’s wages, from her salary alone.

The couple have four children - two girls and two boys - aged between 5 and 12 years.

However, the wife does not want a divorce, she just wants him to abide by the law and give her her dues.

In the case being heard at Dubai Sharia Court, the wife said her husband rarely visits their children and that she wants to be intimate with him, something she said has not happened for many years. She also requested that he live with the family and remove his brother from the house.

A A demanded that the husband pay Dh5,000 as monthly alimony for three backdated years and continue to do so in the future, as well as an ongoing Dh2,000 a month to cover the children’s expenses, backdated one year. She also wants her husband to pay the maid’s wages and household bills from now on.

The trial continues.
