<span>A woman saved her </span><span>child 's life by dropping him from the window of her first-floor apartment </span><span>before jumping out herself to escape a building fire.</span> <span>The </span><span>blaze broke out in a </span><span>residential building in Al Nuaimi 2 in Ajman on Sunday.</span> <span>Police and firefighters rushed to the scene to evacuate the building, but before they arrived the Asian woman</span><span> had already called for help from passers-by and dropped her son, 3, down to them.</span> <span>The child was unharmed.</span> <span>An Arab man living in the building </span><span>jumped from the second floor. </span> <span>He and the mother suffered moderate injuries from the jump and were taken to hospital, said Lt Col Raed Al Zaabi, deputy head of Ajman Civil Defence.</span> <span>Col Al Zaabi said firefighters also rescued a family of seven from the building before bringing the </span><span>blaze under control.</span> <span>Initial investigations showed that the fire began in a corridor where a washing machine and refrigerator</span><span> had been incorrectly stored</span><span>.</span>
