ABU DHABI // A woman accused of stabbing her husband to death accidentally killed him during a fight, she told a court on Monday.

A K, from the Philippines, sobbed at the Criminal Court on Monday where she denied murder.

”We had a fight and he started beating me, and I tried to escape but he blocked the front door, so I ran to the kitchen,” she said.

She claimed she grabbed a kitchen knife only to scare him with it. “Then he pulled my hair so I lost balance while the knife was in my hand,” she said.

As they both lost balance, they dropped on the bed. “He suddenly sat up and I saw the blood on his body, so I threw the knife away, but I don’t know how he got injured in between the pulling and pushing.”

She told her husband that she would call an ambulance but he said “the wounds were light”.

However, A K did call an ambulance, but it took time to arrive. “So I told him I would take him to the hospital instead, but he refused and said we had to wait for the ambulance,” A K said.

She told the court that she and her husband had similar fights reasonably frequently.

Before she left the courtroom, she asked: “When and at what point did my husband die?”

Chief Justice Idris bin Mansour said the timing and cause of death were specified in the case files. “I want to know where my husband’s corpse is? Where has he been buried?” she asked.

The chief justice told her that could be resolved with her lawyer. The case was adjourned to appoint her a lawyer.
