Woman abuses customs staff over gold find Emirati stopped at Mumbai International Airport threw jewellery at officials and demanded consular assistance, according to reports from India.

Indian police were called and at one point customs officers considered arresting the woman, Indian media reported.

“She said she would consume all her sleeping pills if not let off soon,” an unnamed source was quoted as saying.

The woman also said her grandson was unwell and customs officials would be responsible if anything happened to the child.

Airport officials called a doctor when they became concerned for the child’s welfare.

According to reports, the woman then lay on the ground and refused to move or sign any papers until UAE consular officials were called.

Customs staff filed a report describing her non-co-operation and seized her goods. She was eventually escorted off the airport premises by members of the UAE consulate.
