DUBAI // Rough weather forced an Emirates Airline flight from Dubai to Canada to make an emergency landing at the weekend.
The plane, heading for Toronto's Pearson International Airport, had to set down in Ottawa due to the conditions on Friday.
According to a report by the Canadian Press, the Airbus A380 made a two-hour stop at Ottawa and eventually arrived at its destination five hours late.
Emirates Airline apologised for the delay but stressed that the safety of its passengers and crew was "of the highest priority and will not be compromised".
Ottawa is a designated diversion airport for Toronto-bound planes, the report said.
Another Emirates flight, from Dubai to Seattle on April 13, was diverted to Iran after an American passenger had a heart attack during the flight. He underwent surgery at a hospital in Tehran and praised Iran's medical care.
A week earlier, an Emirates passenger jet's tyres burst upon landing at Hong Kong airport on a flight from Bangkok. All of the passengers disembarked safely.
