A video released by Abu Dhabi Police shows a car tyre fly off at high speed, as officers warned of the dangers of installing cheap or fake parts.
The footage is intended to make motorists think twice before buying cheaper replacements from repair garages.
It shows a Mercedes lose a wheel on a motorway and skid across several lanes.
Police found more than 5,900 vehicles fitted with counterfeit or expired tyres since the start of this year.
In 2016, faulty car tyres led to the deaths of at least 14 people in the capital.
