DUBAI // No matter how much they might want him to, Usher will not be taking his shirt off for female fans at tonight's sold-out concert.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of his first Middle East performance, the platinum-selling R&B and rap artist said he had made alterations to his show so it would suit the more conservative UAE climate.
"I was very mindful of the standards of the region and we have made some adjustments to the female wardrobe," said the 31-year-old star. "Also I won't be taking my shirt off. I hope the fans will forgive me."
All 12,000 tickets for tonight's show in Media City sold out earlier in the week. Usher confirmed today that he very much hoped to return to the Emirates for another performance.
"Everybody is chilled here," he said. "They are kind and accommodating."
Usher, whose formal name is Usher Raymond IV, will be performing his hits and selections from his latest album, Raymond V. Raymond, which was released last year.
Becoming father of two young sons, he added, had helped him to get where he is today.
"My children are my greatest contribution to life and they are the reason for doing what I am doing."
Doors for the show in Media City Amphitheatre open at 6pm. Usher will be on stage at 9pm.
