ABU DHABI // Scattered, low-intensity rains continued across the country on Wednesday.
Forecasters expect “light rains” across different parts of the country until Friday because of a low-pressure system over the country, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said.
Light showers were recorded in Dubai and other northern emirates, as well as Abu Dhabi’s Das Island, the duty forecaster at the centre said on Wednesday.
“It’s currently been drizzling in northern and western parts of the country time and time again,” the forecaster said.
The forecaster ruled out any heavy rain, and said light showers started from early morning on Wednesday in Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Das Island and continued in the afternoon.
In the capital, however, the sun played hide and seek, and skies remained cloudy into the early afternoon.
Moderate winds are also expected and seas will be moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea, the centre said.
Similar weather is expected to continue to the weekend and the weather bureau advised people to avoid venturing to the seas during this period.
Highs of 33ºC to 37ºC have been forecast, with lows of 15ºC to 20ºC. The lowest temperature in the country on Wednesday, 12ºC, was recorded at 4am at Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah.
