ABU DHABI // Fog enveloped parts of the UAE for a second day on Tuesday morning, reducing visibility on the roads in some areas to less than 100 meters and causing flight delays and cancellations at Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports.
Once again the Ministry of Interior issued a warning for drivers on their Twitter account.
“Low visibility due to fog formation in different parts in Abu Dhabi and highways. Motorists are urged to take extra caution,” it said.
Although there was no repeat of a Monday morning’s closure of Abu Dhabi airport, inbound flights from Qatar, Oman, South Africa and Pakistan and outbound flights to Kuwait, Indonesia, Ireland and France were delayed.
With the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology issuing warnings of fog and poor visibility, especially over the southeastern and northern parts of the country, through last night into this morning Dubai airport has also experienced flight delays as well as a inbound flight cancellations from Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and India.
Hazy conditions should clear up by the afternoon, according to forecasters. Partly cloudy conditions are expected for the rest of the day with temperatures reaching 27°C.
The forecasters’ outlook predicts mist and fog to return tonight with high humidity.
