Terrorism is the greatest threat to international peace and security, and the UAE is continuing development of its national policies, legislative systems and operational procedures to combat such acts in all forms and manifestations.

That was the message Mohammed Ali Al Shamsi, a member of the UAE’s delegation to the Fourth Review of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, delivered on Saturday.

During the review Mr Al Shamsi looked at UAE efforts to keep up with the global war on terrorism, noting that the country has continued to develop its national policies.

Mr Al Shamsi stressed that the UAE had taken several measures to ensure the strict tracking of terrorists activities.

He also renewed the UAE’s stance of supporting all political efforts aimed at resolving differences while promoting a culture of tolerance and peace, and the convergence between religions and civilisations.

He reiterated the UAE’s support to hold an international conference to define terrorism and to differentiate between it and people’s efforts for self-determination, stressing the need to take into consideration full commitment to the universal principles of international humanitarian law when implementing measures to combat terrorism.
