UAE heritage and culture on show at Adihex

ABU DHABI // The art of brewing and preparing traditional Arabic coffee is one of many competitions planned at this year’s Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.

Organised by the Emirates Falconers’ Club and Informa exhibitions, the event (Adihex) will run from September 4-7 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

“The competitions are unique and have gained regional and international recognition over the past few years,” said Abdulla Al Qubaisi, the exhibition’s director. “The 11th edition of Adihex will see an array of heritage and cultural activities and it is expected to attract nearly 100,000 visitors of all ages who share the passion for the unique UAE heritage.”

Other competitions include Nabati poems, paintings, and hunting and equestrian heritage photography, with prizes valued at more than Dh500,000.

The painting and photography competitions are aimed at maintaining local heritage and highlight the importance of falcons and horses in UAE culture. Organisers hope to educate the younger generation on the richness of UAE culture and the importance of maintaining it.

Competitions are open to painters and photographers of all nationalities and are restricted to one piece of artwork per artist in any of the categories.

The best falcons bred in captivity and the most beautiful hunting Saluki will also be judged.

Local entries should be submitted at Al Raha Beach Theatre by August 28 and international submissions by September 1. More information can be found on www.adihex.com.
