ABU DHABI // Arabs have been long known for their favourable moral traits, and strengthening those will add to the development and success of any individual or society.
“So what is moral education?” Friday’s sermon will ask worshippers.
“It is instilling good values and polished behaviour, so the individual will enjoy manners, integrity and honesty.”
It also calls on the faithful to follow law and order, respect others and purify the heart.
“Arabs were famous for their noble traits like generosity, courage, honour, modesty and keeping their word,” worshippers will hear.
Islam came to strengthen these traits. As Prophet Mohammed once said: “Verily, Allah has sent me to perfect noble morals and complete good deeds.”
And he always asked Allah to guide him to the best of morals and ordered his companions to always speak the truth, be trustworthy, connect with relatives, be good neighbours and not to shed anyone’s blood.
“Building one’s character based on values and elite morals should be done since a young age and education, and the essence of education is to bring ethics to life,” the sermon will say.
And Islam has tied education to morals, as a verse of the Quran says: “Moses said unto him: ‘May I follow thee, to the end that thou mayst teach me right conduct of that which thou hast been taught?’”
