ABU DHABI // This week the sermon will remind worshippers that they should follow the direct messages of the Quran and avoid misleading interpretations, because those are the reasons for turmoil in the world today.

“The expressions in the Quran are free of any ambiguity and their meanings are explained clearly, leaving no room for suspicion,” the sermon will say.

“One of the most dangerous and devastating problems in our times lies in the misconceptions that are being disseminated by the extremist groups.”

A Quranic verse says: “And indeed do many lead [others] astray through their [own] inclinations without knowledge.”

Another verse explains that the Quran includes verses that are precise and others that are unspecific.

“As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them],” the Quran says.

The Prophet Mohammed warned against following those mentioned in the verse: “If you see those who follow thereof that is not entirely clear, then they are those whom Allah has named [as having deviation from the truth]. So beware of them.”

The way to avoid succumbing to such deviations is to follow those with “sound knowledge” and a moderate approach.

Knowledge and awareness are the best methods of prevention and it is the role of parents to guide their children against falling victim to these ideas.

“Whoever avoids suspicious things keeps himself and his religion blameless. However, whoever gets involved in suspicious matters will surely put himself in danger and fall into delusion,” the sermon concludes.
