UAE airlines tempt customers with cheap online fares

DUBAI// Emirates and Etihad are offering discounted flights to destinations around the world - but customers will have to move fast if they want to take advantage of cheaper fares.

Emirates is offering cut price business class tickets to selected countries but the offer will close at the end of today.

Customers must book today with outbound travel taking place between April 1 and May 30 of this year.

Prices quoted on the airline's website include, Dh13,350 to Paris and London Heathrow, Dh6,990 to Bangkok, Dh3,710 to Mumbai and Dh20,980 to New york.

Etihad is also offering cheaper rates on its coral and pearl class seats, but customers have until January 31 to book.

Travel from the capital to Kuala Lumpur is Dh2,500 in coral class, Dh1,380 to Istanbul in pearl class.

The airline is also offering discounted tickets to 34 destinations around the world on a first come first served basis.

Travel on these flights must take place during selected periods of the year.

Premjit Bangara, general manager of Sharaf Travel in Dubai said it was common for airlines to announce offers during the off-peak season.

"The peak season has just ended and it will be quieter between now and March," he said.

"The airlines do this kind of thing to boost interest and we have seen a number of clients take advantage of the offers.

"You will also see many people who usually opt to fly economy class choosing to step up to business if they feel the prices are reasonable."

He said ticket prices tended to be cheaper this time of year as most people have concluded their winter vacations.
