RAS AL KHAIMAH // The maritime rescue unit of Ras Al Khaimah Police has saved two Asians in their 20s from drowning after their watercraft flipped over in Al Muairad sea in RAK.

Brig Ghanim Ghanim, head of the RAK Central Operations Room, said they were alerted to the incident and in three minutes the rescue team arrived to the scene and rescued the two men from drowning. They were found exhausted and had swallowed a lot of water because they could not swim.

They were taken to the shore, where the national ambulance team provided them with medical care before taking them to hospital to ensure they were fine.

Brig Ghanim said the men were driving their watercraft when it flipped, and they almost drowned because they did not know how to swim.

Brig Ghanim urged people not to drive watercraft if they cannot swim.
