DUBAI // Two men stole Adidas shoes and a shirt after removing the magnetic tags, Dubai Criminal Court heard.

One of the defendants, a 30-year-old Moroccan, confessed to a charge of theft, while his countryman, 29, was not present in court to enter a plea.

Employees at the shop in Dubai Outlet Mall caught the pair shoplifting on December 15 last year.

“We noticed shortage after carrying out an inventory, therefore we checked the surveillance cameras and saw as the men stole some shoes and left,” said the Emirati shop manager, 32.

“Then, on December 15, we saw the same men from the clip coming to the shop again.”

One of them was caught after he removed the tags from the items and tried to leave without paying.

“He offered to pay for them but we called police,” the manager said.

The next hearing will be on August 18, at which the second defendant will be summoned.
