SHARJAH // Two women have been arrested for stealing from apartments in Sharjah.
The women, both from Lebanon, were arrested for allegedly breaking into several apartments in the emirate and stealing jewellery, mobile phones and cash, police said.
Police said the women, identified as NA and MN, monitored apartments in the emirate and broke in after checking the residents were not inside.
The women are believed to have stolen light and expensive items worth around Dh400,000 before being caught.
CID officers launched an investigation into the thefts.
They apprehended the women inside thier apartment and found cash, stolen jewelry and mobile phones.
During interrogations the women admitted to carrying out the thefts and showed police officers the locations of the apartments they broke into.
Sharjah police urged residents to secure their homes and building owners to enhance their security and monitor the buildings in addition to installing CCTV cameras.
