Twenty-six vehicles involved in car accidents in RAK due to fog

RAS AL KHAIMAH // Twenty-six vehicles were involved in four accidents caused by fog on Tuesday.

Police said two crashes, which injured five people, occurred on Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Street.

The first involved five vehicles and left four people hurt, including one with severe injuries, while a motorist was injured in the second incident which involved four cars.

Another accident led to an 11-car pile-up, while six vehicles were also involved in the fourth crash, police said.

Lt Gen Ali Al Nuaimi, chief of RAK traffic police, ordered more than 30 patrols to be sent across the emirate. He warned motorists to drive with caution.

Police also stressed the importance of fog lights and said hazard lights were only to be used to alert other motorists that there was an accident ahead.

Drivers were reminded to change lanes only after indicating and to leave enough space between vehicles.
