A Dubai number plate R111 went under the hammer for Dh2.65million at a transport authority auction on Saturday.
The licence plate was among 80 numbers in an open auction organised by the Roads and Transport Authority that raised a total of Dh24.8million.
The second highest bid was Dh1.06million for licence number F999, followed by M7777 that was sold for Dh800,000.
There was an enthusiastic response from residents to the RTA’s 96th open auction, said Ahmed Bahrozyan, chief executive of the RTA’s licensing agency.
