Heavy traffic was reported in the usual choke points on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai on Wednesday morning with tailbacks near Noor Bank Metro station in Al Safa causing delays.
Drivers also faced congestion on approaches to the E11 from Al Barsha and Al Manara, although no major accidents were reported.
Motorists in Abu Dhabi also faced a heavy build-up of traffic on the way into work, with an accident on Sheikh Zayed Street after the Saada Bridge responsible for much of the gridlock around 8am.

Further delays were experienced on Al Salam Street and E10 as a result of the accident.
An accident was reported on the Maqta Bridge inbound to Abu Dhabi at 9.24am. Drivers were told to expect delays.

And there were more delays on the E22 following an accident before Sas Al Nakhl Bridge towards Abu Dhabi.
