UAE traffic: Busy in Dubai and Sharjah

Cars almost at a standstill on a number of roads

Heavy traffic built up on various roads in Dubai and Sharjah this morning, hampering the morning commute.

As usual, Sharjah’s E11-Al Ittihad Street and a number of roads intersecting with it, such as Al Nahda, were heavily congested. The parallel street – D97 Amman - was little better with cars reduced to speeds as slow as 5 km/hr.

The situation was worse in the Al Nahda 1 area, where cars were almost at a standstill. The streets surrounding Al Ahli Riding Club were also suffering from heavy congestion.

Heavy traffic continued up until the Dubai International Airport area, and up to the Metro Red Line.

The D68 Al Khail Street was also suffering from slow movement, along with 2nd December Street. However, no accidents were reported as of 8.30am.
