ABU DHABI // Motorists bound for Abu Dhabi experienced long delays near Maqta Bridge after an accident on Sunday morning.
On its Twitter account, the Department of Transport said an accident on the bridge caused tailbacks and cautioned motorists to drive safely.
At 8.16am, Abu Dhabi Police took to Twitter to warn Abu Dhabi-bound drivers of the gridlock ahead.
No traffic-related incidents were reported by Dubai Police. The police, however, tweeted a traffic safety message to drivers: “Giving way to police and ambulance vehicles will save others’ lives.”
Not giving way to emergency, police and public service vehicles or official envoys can lead to a Dh500 fine and four traffic black points.
