Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, sent condolences to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after an Air India Express plane from Dubai to Kerala crash-landed on Friday night.

At least 18 people where killed when the flight from Dubai skidded off the runway as it touched down at Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, in heavy rain.

"You remain in our prayers during these difficult times," Sheikh Mohammed wrote on Twitter.

On Saturday morning, the Indian Consulate General in Dubai tweeted that 127 survivors were being treated for their injuries.

Flight IX-1344, carrying 184 passengers including 10 infants, two pilots and four crew, overshot the runway on Friday while attempting a second landing.

The Air India Express plane's black box, which will provide flight data to help understand why the plane crashed, was recovered by the civil aviation ministry’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.

The digital flight data device recorded the airspeed and altitude of the plane.
Sheikh Mohamed also shared his concern for people affected by recent floods in India.

Twenty-two people were killed in Kerala yesterday after floods caused a landslide.

In the Indian state of Bihar, 19 people died in floods, and about 12,200 residents moved to relief camps. Mumbai has been battered by severe rains in the past weeks, with the city taking 500mm of rain in 72 hours.
