More than 14.8 million people used the Dubai Metro last month, and more than 301,000 used the tram, the Roads and Transport Authority announced on Sunday.
Last year, more than 13.5m riders used the metro. “This is indicative of the fact that the RTA’s plan to augment the ridership of mass transit means is heading in the right direction,” said Mohammed Al Mudharreb, the RTA’s director of rail operations.
“People have started to grasp the benefits of using public transport systems including the peace of mind and hassle-free mobility as well as the reduced expenses on fuel and vehicle maintenance.”
