A lane under construction on the road leading to Jebel Al Jais was closed after a car fell over the side of the cliff and down the mountain earlier this week.
On Wednesday the Joint Committee of the Traffic and Patrols Department at RAK Police and the Public Works & Services Department carried out a second visit to the area to take the necessary measures to keep road users safe.
Brig Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim, head of the RAK Central Operations Room, said closing the 6km-long, unpaved road was of one of the instructions made by the committee.
Brig Ghanim noted that barriers, lights, more warning signs, and outlets for rainwater were also being considered to keep the road safe, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
