Man killed after car falls from multi-storey parking

AJMAN // A man was killed after his car fell from the fifth floor of a multi-storey car park in a residential building in Ajman on Thursday morning.

The 22-year-old Nigerian’s car drove over a concrete barrier and a wall before falling five storeys to the street below, said First Lt Nawaf Ateeq, from Ajman Civil Defence.

“Civil defence teams and ambulance crews rushed to the scene at 2am. The victim went to his car in the parking to get papers. But how the incident happened, we do not know.”

It took emergency crews three hours to remove the body from the car. The accident happened in the Al Bustan neighbourhood.

“At 5am we handed over the scene to police to investigate,” said First Lt Ateeq, adding incidents of this kind are rare.

“Based on my experience, minor car accidents happened before in parking lots of buildings. But this one, it is rare in the emirate.”
