An Arab national in his 70s died after suffering serious injuries after he was hit by a car over while crossing King Faisal Road in Umm Al Quwain.
Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Obaid bin Aarran, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at UAQ police, said the operations room received a report at 8pm on Sunday that a pedestrian had been injured close to the Dubai Distribution Library.
Police patrols and ambulances headed to the scene and the injured man was taken to Umm Al Quwain Hospital, but he died on arrival.
Lt Col bin Aarran urged all motorists to remain cautious while driving and to focus on the road. He also urged pedestrians to use crossings and to make sure the way is free of vehicles before crossing, for their own safety, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
