AJMAN // A van caught fire on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road after a reckless driver collided with it, Ajman Police said.
High speed and wrong overtaking by the Arab motorist were the causes of the accident near Al Hamidiya Bridge, in the direction of Umm Al Quwain from Ajman.
Lt Col Saif Al Falasi, deputy director of Ajman Traffic and Patrols Department, said: “The driver of an Arab nationality was driving at a fast pace in the left lane and then he moved to the middle lane to overtake the vehicle in front of him, which led him to collide with a Peugeot van driven by a motorist from an Asian country.
“The Peugeot van was completely burnt after the Arab driver collided with it from the back.”
Both motorists sustained moderate to minor injuries and were taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Ajman for treatment.
