Free parking in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for Eid Al Adha

Parking will be free across Abu Dhabi and Dubai for six days next week in celebration of Eid Al Adha.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority said it would waive parking fees across the emirate — except in multi-level parking terminals — from Sunday, August 19, to Friday, August 24, with tariffs reactivated on Saturday, August 25.

Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport said parking would be free in the capital for the same period of time and called upon motorists not to park their vehicles in prohibited areas or to block traffic flow.

Dubai's public transport timetables will also change during the Eid holiday.

Dubai Metro:

Stations on the Red Line:

From 5am to 2am the next day from Monday, August 20, to Thursday, August 23.

From 10am to 2am the next day on Friday, August 24.

And from 5am to 2am the following day on Saturday, August 25.

Stations on the Green Line:

From 5.30am to 2am the next day from Monday, August 20, to Thursday, August 23.

From 10am to 2am the next day on Friday, August 24.

And from 5.30am to 2am the following day on Saturday, August 25.

Dubai Tram:

Trams will operate from Saturday to Thursday from 6am until 1am the following day, and on Friday from 9am to 1am the following day.

Dubai Bus:

Main stations, such as Gold Souq Station, will open from 4.25am until 12.29am, and Al Ghubaiba Station will be open from 4.14am until 12.33am.

Subsidiary stations, such as Satwa, will operate from 5am to 11pm, except on Route C01, which will operate around the clock.

Al Qusais Bus Station will open from 5am until 11.45pm. Al Quoz Industrial Station will operate from 5am until 11.35pm and Jebel Ali Station will be offering services from 5am until 11.30pm.

Countdown to Zero exhibition will show how disease can be beaten

Countdown to Zero: Defeating Disease, an international multimedia exhibition created by the American Museum of National History in collaboration with The Carter Center, will open in Abu Dhabi a  month before Reaching the Last Mile.

Opening on October 15 and running until November 15, the free exhibition opens at The Galleria mall on Al Maryah Island, and has already been seen at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
