DUBAI // A bus powered by compressed natural gas will be trialed by the Road and Transport Authority on one of its internal routes.
The trial is part of the RTA’s drive to use clean, environment-friendly fuel and support government efforts in the field of clean energy and public health.
“The RTA is in constant pursuit of the best and safest mass transit means as far as environmental sustainability is concerned,” said Abdullah Al Maazami, Director of Maintenance & Service, Head of Trials Governance Team at RTA Public Transport Agency.
Mr Al Maazami said CNG-powered engines are more robust and durable compared to engines powered by diesel and petrol. Natural gas reduces the need for maintenance due to its clean combustion.
