SHARJAH // Two Emirati brothers were killed in a road accident on Thursday morning in Sharjah.

An ambulance took AA, 23, to Khalifa Hospital in Ajman while his brother SA, 21, was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A police source said that the accident happened shortly after 3am on Thursday near an Adnoc petrol station by the Sharjah Electricity Station on the border with Ajman.

He said the crash happened due to speeding as the driver lost control over his vehicle which crashed into a cement barrier. The car rolled several times before it landed in the sand near the main road.

Police were contacted by another motorist and arrived with an ambulance, but the brothers were found dead.

Saeed Mahmoud, an eye witness said he was driving to his home in Ajman after a late shift at his work in Dubai when he saw the accident involving a four-wheel-drive vehicle. “There were several police cars and an ambulance, but since it is early in the morning, no traffic jam was caused by the accident,” he said.
