DUBAI // The Dubai tram will begin operation at 6.30am and run until 1.30am the next day, Saturday to Thursday.

On Fridays the tram will run from 9am until 1.30am the next day.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that passenger services will commence on Wednesday.

The Dubai Tram will serve 11 stations at 10-minute intervals during peak hours and 12-minutes during off-peak hours.

The tram will be inaugurated on Tuesday with officials expected to ride the 10.6 kilometre track.

Each tram has a capacity of around 405 riders in seven carriages.

The tram stations include Jumeirah Beach Residence 1, Jumeirah Beach Residence 2, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Marina, Marina Towers, Mina Siyahi, Dubai Media City, the Palm Jumeirah, Knowledge Village, and Safouh.

Footbridges link the tram to the metro at Damac Properties and Jumeirah Lakes Towers.

“Fixing the tram service hours was geared towards meeting the needs of the public and responding to their daily transit patterns, particularly as the tram serves densely populated areas, offering commuter service from and to places of work, besides serving tourist attractions in the Emirate thus appeals to a whole host of community segments,” said Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, chief executive of RTA’s Rail Agency.

The tram line also connects with the Palm Jumeirah monorail at the entrance of the Palm at Safouh Street. A multilevel car park at this station will serve tram and monorail users, Mr Al Ali said.
